My brother is manager of office, his first one, and he just found out the downside to having no procedures for computers. His secretary downloaded some programs which included a virus that spread to his other computer. They boot to a black screen and there is no progress in safe mode.
He didn't have any anti-virus or spyware software. When I suggested he buy an external hard-disk to back up important employee files, he was to cheap to make the investment.
So, that is my story.
And now, I am looking for ways to block access to certain users from downloading/installing programs. This is a Windows XP, and it just might be professional version. Anyone know how this can be done?
Also, what software do you suggest for scheduled daily virus/spyware scan, as well as live monitoring?
Thanks for the help,
Marcin
