Retrieving data off of a password protected memory drive?

Hi

My computer stopped working a few months ago, it will not turn on at all. I took it to Best Buy, they told me that the motherbroad went out and there's no way of repairing it. I asked them about my files. They told me that they would put them on discs but that it would cost $300+ dollars.

So I decided to get the Black Widow and do it myself; the problem I had was that the computer had a password on it, Now I'm stuck... I was going to try the enclosed hard drive but didn't want to run into the same problem.

Is there any other way for me to get my memory from my computer onto my laptop without having to pay hundreds of dollars?

I would either burn yourself a Linux Mint 12 Operating System disk or buy one. You can use the disk without installing Linux mint on the computer and get access to the data you want. Just copy it to an external hard drive.

Put the drive in another system and take ownership of the files.

What Johnb35 said is an easier solution. Get someone who knows about computers to do what Johnb35 said if you do not know how to do it yourself. Pay them $20 if they seem reluctant to recover all your files for you.
