Review My Build Please

Hello there! Let me first start off by saying this is my first post here. I have been looking through your forums for about two days now and all of you seem very nice, friendly and very knowledgeable.

Now down to business:
I am currently in the process of a new build, it will be my first complete build but i am very knowledgeable of computers and so forth. My budget is about $1300 give or take a couple of dollars. My primary use for my new machine is gaming but i practically use is for everything. The build below is of course subject to change so if you can review what i have put below and tell me what you think? Make suggestions on different parts? You know the thing you guys do best I would really be appreciate it. :)

Antec Three Hundred Case

GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD4P

Intel Core i7 920

CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W

G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

Western Digital 1TB 7200 RPM

EVGA GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition

Windows Vista Home Premium 64Bit

Also if someone could recommend a good drive brand or just link me to a good CD/DVD drive I would appreciate that. If anyone can make any recommendations or suggestions or if you see anything that doesn't look good feel free to point it out. I thank you in advance and sorry for the long post. lol :cool:

Thank you for the fast reply. The 4890 is a great suggestion and ill keep that in mind. I would just like to mention that I am a nvidia guy. I had a bad experience with an ati card once but I definitely wont rule out the 4890. As far as the ex58-ud3r board goes I have looked and many reviews of both boards and I think the ex58-ud4p has what I'm looking for.

Your setup looks very good but If it was me I would get a different case maybe a Antec 900. Also i see you don't have an after market cooler look at a V8 I here they are the best coolers for the i7. Also I agree with susik89 the GTX 275 is a great deal for $230 and is a lot better then the GTX 260.

Hmm now i have a question about OS. You posted a link to windows vista with free upgrade coupon. Right now im using windows 7 RC. Do you think it would good to get that vista with upgrade option or just buy windows 7 when rc expires. I heard the prices of 7 are gonna be high though.

Just buy the Windows 7. They have already released retail prices - and they're about 10 % less than Vista comparable version.

Windows 7 Prices

Based on the above - I'm " guessing " OEM prices will fall similar to Vista prices also.

Prices are huge. If i were you i would stick to vista or xp, because as the past have shown all those new win releases are with thousands of bugs and tons of programs are not even working on them

Actually windows 7 will be cheaper than windows vista... Plus windows 7 is based off windows vista, so it should have less bugs than vista has at the moment.

Well thanks for the info then :) I only have heard that win7 is a ripoff. Well if you want the truth im an XP lover and i am going to stick with it for at least a year more :)

Thats said because its more or less just a highly improved version of vista, and that people think its a ripoff because they already paid for vista.
