im having an issue with cable television frequency dropoff. the headend spits out the signals at about 30dbs and we run it through 540 cable, sotheres hardly any loss there. about 300 feet from the headend we placed an 8-port tap with a 15db loss so that the signal would come in a bit hot( the dbs will drop as the splitters are added to aech apartment.) At the tap is where im having my problem. when i hook up my scope to the tap, i get a reading of -7 to-10 dbs. Could this be because of maybe a break in the cable or a bad tap that creates too much loss?
