Ok this is for people familiar with windows and software, and maybe from experience have had this problem too.

There is a process that keeps appearing on my Task manager called: rf6i4db.exe

I dont know what it is and when i do a search including hidden and system files, the search tool finds nothing. I tried doing "Regedit" and cannot find anything named rf6i4db.exe

I did a google search in many different ways and found nothing on it. and i searched symantec's site.

This program cannot be stopped through "MSCONFIG" it is not a startup program....its triggered by something kinda like a MACRO virus.

When i end the process, 5-10 minutes later its back on the list, and sometimes there are many copies of rf6i4db.exe running at once!!!!! like 10 or 12!!!!! And each copy takes 10MB of memory and recources from the computer.

anyone ever seen this before and know how to get rid of this?????

thanks in advance guys

Hmmm....well I don't know what it is but I can tell you that my guess would be a home-made (not some widespread) bot or something. I would make sure that I would get the newest firewall and certainly make sure that the service is prevented from connecting to the net...if my prediction is true anyway.

JAN :D

When you mentioned it i got curious and went and looked at my blocked list for rf6i4db.exe and found it already blocked, It says the program is located in the system32 folder called rf6i4db.exe..... but its not there i assorted files by name and looked....nothing, i even turned on show hidden/system files...

anyway how i can get it to show up? can i find it through the registry or some other methods...because all my sources say its in the system32 folder but there is no rf6i4db.exe there.

thanx

well, I have not seen this before, but it could like be an un-needed program that is running
if u have winXP, then go to CP (control Panel) --> administrative tools --> services and then stop any related to it.

this how could I help, hope that this will solve ur prob.

make sure you are showing all hidden files and you are showing all super hidden files (system protected files)

if you see it then, you can either change the name to rf6i4db.ex$ and reboot to delete it (if it lets you change the name) or boot into sfemode w/ command prompt and: del rf6i4db.exe

I'd probably rename the file to rf6i4db.ex$ in safe mode and reboot again normally to see if any other program throws an error for not having the file (you should be able to delete it in any mode when it is renames like this)
