I have a problem with my usage... i admit, i have a lot of stuff running, to make my desktop pretty and such. But- i have 1. two Firefoxes 2. One IE 3. and Winamp running as apps. With FreeRamXP Pro (which i highly reccomend) i have 560MB free. What the heck! If i close all of these, then i have about 590 (if im lucky). If i close all my other pretty things (before playing a game, more on this later) then i have about 640. ashrhashdh! I will play UT or CoD2, something major- ill be about full up, of course. Ill exit the game- and, with all these apps and pretty things running still, ill have 700MB. Its like my games free up stuff. I dont get it! any help is appreciated.
 
I have the same problem, its usually windows and its features/components/devices, Mine takes up around 400mb at startup and 500 with a few things open, the only thing to do really is get more ram, unless you don't have the cash, then you cound uninstall some of the un-important apps.
