Ridiculous memory usage in Firefox. Win 7

I'm running firefox and It's been upto date since I've had my machine, and regardless of new updates, it's chewing up 750/800k+ memory. I can have a couple of tabs open, I'll be scrolling through a page and the music I'm playing in iTunes will stutter. It's really struggling and CPU usage peaks at 70 - 80%. It's really annoying. Is it time I changed browser? I'm running 7 64bit, with 3Gigs of Ram and an Intel Dual Core E5300 @ 2.6GHz. It's bringing my machine to a standstill. :confused:
 
Could be a browser addon. Have you scanned for malware? I would suggest using adwcleaner and junkware removal tool as well.
 
I've removed firefox and now use chrome. A lot less usage now. I only use adblocker. Nothing else. Has been on both browsers, and I see a significant improvement with Chrome
