Right memory for my Acer Q?

I looked up my memory for my Acer Aspire 9410. It calls out for 200-pin SODIMM, DDR2 PC2-4200. My question is the folowing memory going to work for my laptop?

CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Notebook Memory

Kingston 2GB 200-Pin DDR2 SO-DIMM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300) Notebook Memory

I'm going to upgrade to 4mb. So will this memory work for my system and do you guys think this is a good memory or do you have some other suggestions?

TIA Mike

I think it will work but I don't know if the difference between PC5300 and PC2-4200 will work...

Since you're getting two 2GB stick, you'll get dual channel, which is good.

Have you looked if there were the same exact type of RAM available?

I don't know what the exact name brand/manufacturer is of my memory because I have'nt opened up my computer to see. But the way I got that information was I went to Crucial.com and plugged in my laptop model and that's what it said I could use.

It did give replacement ramm to use but I went to newegg to see what I could get for a little less money. But I don't understand what all the other numbers on the tag mean so that's why I asked if it will work or not.

I also looked up my specs with the CPU-Z program that I saw in another thread. Here are some of the specs.

Mainboard- Myall2 Rev
Chipset - Intel i945GM
CPU - Core Duo T2500 @ 2.00 GHz
Bus - 133 MHz
FSB - 532.1 MHz
Memory - DDR2
Channels # - Dual

It's been awhile since I've screwed around in the computers so I'm not quite sure here. I'd just like to know what would be the best solution to a slowing system after I've installed widows office ultimate.

TIA Mike

What Operating System are you currently running? Windows XP 32-bit or Windows Vista 64-bit? How much Random Access Memory do you currently have in your computer? What are going to use this computer for? Gaming? Browsing the internet?

If you are using Windows XP it will only recognize 3 to 3.5 gigabytes of Random Access Memory.

If you are buying memory definately go with PC2-5300 as it is faster memory than PC2-4200 memory. I currently have 2 gigabytes of PC-3200 memory in my computer and it is plenty.

Edit: Windows XP 32-bit will only recognize 3 to 3.5 gigabytes of Random Access Memory. Windows XP 64-bit will recognize much more memory.

I'm running vista and it has 1 gig right now. I have this speedometer thing on the side of my desktop that shows the percentage of ramm and cpu usage and the ramm is always around 70% and spikes to 85+ when accessing a program.

Also booting up is really slow now after I installed office.

I'm not going to be using this laptop to play games. I'll build a new system for that.

As I'm sure you know, it will be quite expensive to upgrade your memory to 4 gigabytes. Windows Vista 64-bit is a memory hog. With Windows XP 32-bit 1 gigabyte of memory would likely be sufficient for your needs. If I were you I would clear my hard drive of Windows Vista 64-bit (that is what I assume you have) and get a copy of Windows XP 32-bit SP2. But that is a quite painful road as you will have to buy a new operating system, backup your hard drive, clear it then do an install and possibly have to deal with driver issues as well.

The less painful way out perhaps is to buy the 4 gigabytes of 200-Pin memory. 2 gigabyte PC2-4200 sticks can be purchased at NewEgg.com for $135 a piece ($270 total).

You posted that I should buy the 5300 and than you picked out 4200. Can my system use the 5300, is it better like you said previously?

Your system can use pc-5300, if your system is incompatible of 667 mhz speeds itll clock down so thats fine.

Sorry if I confused you with the earlier post. I gave you the suggestion of buying PC2-4200 memory because the price is lower. If price isn't an issue and you can find 2 gigabyte sticks of 200-PIN PC2-5300 RAM, buy them.
