ripping from DVD (personal use)

i have recently bought a new dvd drive, which seems to be shite. its not a dvd RW, but is there anyway i can copy video(with sound) from it into a format that can be played by media player/realplayer ??

am sure that its hard, but i know people must do it for p2p software yeh?
 
Well, it will have to read the DVD to rip it to your hard drive. If you can't get anything to actually read it I'd have to say your SOL :o
