Ripples on the read side of DVD?

I still play games on my PS2 and just got some new ones. I noticed after playing the same disc for a while (lets say 30 hours) it begins to form this rainbow ripple pattern (kind of patchwork-looking, faint just like the ps2 logo on the 4 spots on the disk), so I thought it might just be my PS2. I checked the read side of an old game I used to always play on my other PS2 (because that one has a network adapter) and sure enough, it has them too! But the games read perfectly. I also checked some "used" games that I haven't played yet, 2 of them have it. Is there any technical explanation for this phenomenon?

oh no, I mean 30 hours of gameplay time total. The longest I have a game running is 10 hours at a given time. I feel the PS2 and the disc when taking it out, doesn't feel warm at all. My xbox360 discs get WAY hotter and I don't see any defects in them. I also noticed after not playing one of my games for a few days the pattern is still there, but much fainter.
 
It is possible it is the anti-scratch coating degrading. It happens over time anyway, but depending on where the disc was made, it will happen faster if printed more cheaply. It isn't anything that will stop the games from working correctly, as you have found out, it just means they are easier to scratch, but if you are anything like me and have your discs in either the console or the box it came in, that isn't an issue

So does this mean the laser is actually powerful enough to make that coating react/degrade? Would PS2 discs be manufactured any differently than a normal dvd? I've checked xbox 360 and Wii discs, and none of them have anything similar
