Have any of you folks used/played with Rocksmith?

I got a really sweet guitar for my birthday and I need help learning to play, I've seen good reviews on the Rocksmith software/game and it looks intuitive and fun.

any Rocksmith users here? opinions on it?

I've owned it for a bit on Xbox 360 and then the 2014 Edition on PC. It's an OK piece of software and an alright game. They made it a little cumbersome to move around menus and whatnot, but the game itself seems to do an alright job of teaching you the ropes and getting you up to speed, however I had a lot of issues with the game thinking that my guitar was out of tune when it wasn't. The E string would register one fret lower than wherever I was fingering.

Don't forget that you'll need the special Rocksmith cable for the guitar to connect to the device as well.

The games still a little expensive in my opinion, but if you're serious about learning, I think it would help. If you've got the $60 or whatever to spare and aren't extraordinarily worried about whether or not it's worth it, then go for it. There's really no surefire way to tell if it will actually help you or not though.

Cool, thanks for the input.. I think I want to try--I can play a bit now.. a few basic tunes, and I had this old beater guitar--but then I got a new cherry Epi from my parents in September and the desire to learn and have fun with it as a private hobby has increased.

I dont really want to go to traditional music lessons at a shop, so this seems worth a try.. and yep I know about the special cable.

Thanks again for the info man!!
