yes, i know it's an old game, but oh well, it's cheap, and my system sucks.
anyways, i was just wondering. i've been messing around with building my own roller coasters. now, i get the intensity rating to go into the 20's and say (ultra-extreme). but the excitment rating will be really low, like 1.83

i was just wondering if anyone had any idea as to why my intensity rating is super high, but the excitment is so low. is this normal? or is it just something that i'm doing?
 
That is normal, what you need to do is keep the G-forces low and don't make it go extremely fast. If it is going fast make sure it is incredibly smooth. Also make all kinds of different things in it, don't just make it like a drop then a circle around the the platform, make some hills, turning while going up/down hills. I've found that doing this helps the ratings.

actually, if there were people on the ride, and they have any kind of good memory about me, they probably would be. i love crashing coasters and stuff. a lot of fun.

that's probably what i'm doing wrong. i have extremely high G's on all my coasters. i tried making them as fast as possible. and i do have then have several twists and turns and loops and all that.
i think one thing that may be hurting it, now that i think about it, is on almost all my coasters, first thing i do is use a lift hill to get them as high as possible. maybe the long time it takes to get the ride started is hurting my rating??
 
dunno, but i have actully raised the ground to the maxx just getting the coaster up as high as possible then under ground as low as possible, i tell you what, instant 5Gs :P
 
What I usually do is raise the coaster about 1/4 of the possible height right off the bat then I try to get that speed to last about 1/3 of the way through then have another hill that goes up about 1/2 the possible height and have it get you back to the station.

that's exactly right.

I have that game too and every expansion to go with it. Haven't played it in a while. I'm working on getting RCT3.
