Router for Time Warner Cable

My grandparents router doesn't seem to work well at all. When next to the computer it is 13mbps. In the other room where the router is left hte computer drops to .3mbps. I have updated firmware and no changes.

I was looking to replace the router and possibly the modem if needed. The current modem is the one supplied by time warner cable. It is a Scientific Atlanta DPC2203. The router is a belkin F6D4230-4.

Are these still the way to go?
Modem - Motorola 6121

Router - Asus RT-N56U

Can I get a good signal and speed by getting a new router and using the supplied modem?

Those Belkin units are pretty terrible.

The units you picked should work well. I'm using an older Motorola 6120 on the 100 mbit TWC package and get around 120/6.

I'd replace the router by itself first, you'll probably see a gigantic improvement with that alone.

Yeah, just replace the router first as most belkins are trash units. That Asus router has good signal strength and easy to setup.

Great. They have to walk their ipad into the hallway to get the wifi to pick up. Shouldn't be a problem now.

Now to figure out how to install a SSD in their computer and install windows without a disc.

Do you have a license for it and what particular OS are we talking about? You can download windows 7 iso and create the bootable dvd to install and use a key that you already have.

Have the code from dell. It is their inspiron 560 that uses windows 7 home premium. I assume the motherboards doesnnt support sata iii but i think the ssd will still speed things up.
