Router issue

I just moved to a new house and had to transfer my DSL.

For about a week, everything worked fine. I just plugged in my computers, modem, and router and all was fine.

Then it stopped working. I found out that I had to reregister my DSL account.

Now the internet works fine if my computer is hooked into the modem.

But my router does not work.

When I plug the computer into the router (which is plugged into the modem), I can't get a connection.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

try turning off the modem, and the router and the pc. Wait a few, then turn on the modem and wait for it to set. Then the router, then the pc. Also make sure you have the modem to router cat5 cable in the right port on the router.
If all else fails just reset your router, you know the little reset button. It will wipe out the router and it will take it to the day you took it out of the box. So it will also need to be reprogramed,,, heck it's not working now is it ?

What you need to do is find the ip of the setup to your DSL modem
once you enter the setup of the modem set the modem to bridged ethernet.
you will have to connect direct to the modem with a Cat5 Cable to do this.

next enter the setup of your router and set it for PPPoE and set your user name and pw to the dsl account in the router.

This is a Issue that happens alot with dsl modem and external router setups
you may have to search the net to find out how to do this for your model of dsl modem but its a simple process. if you cant find the info on the net call your ISP helpdesk they can walk you thru setting your modem to a Bridged ethernet connection.
