router not working on my new vista help

hi i just got a new vista and i tried installing my old router from 2003 and it did not work it said the computer did not connect to the router or something..is this because its an old router?..it works on my xp just fine

please help

It can be because it's an old router, and it could also be that you didn't set it up right.It could be a number of things but it might just be that it's old.
