Hey, im trying to set up a password for my router, so that only me and my housemates can use the internet. Does anyone know how to do this? Im using windows Vista.

Setting up a password on the router won't allow only you and your friends to use the internet. If you are on wireless, you will need to add some wireless security, such as WEP/WPA(2), MAC filtering, disabling the SSID, etc.

It also depends on what type of router you have.

That's what im after I think, the wireless security. My friend suggested a WPA-key, but have no ideas of how to go about doing this? Bit worried about playing around with settings in case I mess something up :(

You are better consulting the routers manual to get the hang of it all. Basically you need to switch on the WPA/WEP security feature on in the router settings and either let that generate a 10 or 26 key code, or you can manually input a 10 or 26 key code and once that is saved to the router, you will then need to renew your wireless network connection to the router in windows Vista... where then it will ask you for the security key. Its all easy once you get the hang of it.
