I am having an issue with my router/modem. It is a modem that has a built in wireless router that i DO NOT use. Up till a week ago I was getting good speeds. Paying for 8 megs and was getting 8 megs. However, lately I am getting around 300-600 kbs OCCASIONALLY reaching 4000kbs for download times. But that is like, once a week for about 5 seconds. It is a Motorola SBG900. I had the lines checked and had my computer cleaned up and we basically narrowed it down to the modem as we installed a new modem and everything was fine. But I bought this modem 5 years ago, used it for a total of 1 year (Including the last two months) and now Motorola won't give me tech support because they don't value me as a customer apparently. Could anyone walk me through figuring out why my downloads suddenly crawled to a screeching hault?
Things I've done:
Had lines checked.
Checked cables.
Checked processing and computer virus/issues. (Everything was fine but if you think this still may be an issue let me know what to do.)
Test modem works fine.
Reset via modem settings.
Reset via pin hole on bottom.
Turned off wireless in case somebody was leeching.
Anything I am forgetting? Please help. Paying $60 a month for accelerated dial up speeds!
