Router Problems

I recently acquired a actiontec GT704WG router/modem, it's brand new. I opened it and was hoping to replace my westell 6100g and add a wireless connection since the router is wireless capable. I go and hook it up with the same dsl and Ethernet cable and it won't connect to the internet. The Ethernet light comes on, the power is on, the dsl is on, and the wireless is on but their is still no connection to the internet. I am running windows vista ultimate x64. I tried uninstalling the other modem and reinstall the disc that came with this one but still no luck.....help??

what happened to your other router that you needed to replace it?
do you have FIOS? I think that fios uses an actiontek router also. I have fios and I know that that in the user info that dsl uses to log you on, Verizon told me that you could put anything you wanted in there. Also all the set top boxes have ip addresses , so it is quite possible that Verizon is using the mac address of your router to authenticate you. When I had dsl I could use any router i wanted, just as long as I plugged in my VZE number and password.
Have you tried calling verizon or whoever you have
