Hey guys I have question. When Im in the laptop and try to connect to my router wireless, the router ask me for a WEP or a WPA network key, which I forgot if I ever did one.

Is there a way to take the WEP protection off ? reset the router maybe?

Im curious........why would you not want to use wep addressing for wireless?

no is not that i dont want to is that i dont know how but the WEP key appeared the next day and I didnt know the key code so i was asking how to remove it. Its already removed.

ipconfig/all
ethernet adapter wireless
your physical address is your wep.

just plug it in.
its just another protection.
its specific to your wireless as authorized.

If your router gives you the ability, set it to WPA and use a key you can easily remember, such as MyRouter2188 or whatever. WEP is really quite useless as it can be cracked in under five minutes. If you don't have WPA capabilities, maybe consider replacing your router. :)

the problem is that my router is connected with just cables, there is no software installed . so how can I set the WPA code, from any computer?

there is software installed! go to your computer and type in the address 192.168.1.1 user eather; (blank), admin, password. password eather; password, admin. if thoughs dont work, look on the bottom of your device
and that will bring you to the controle pannel. just go to wireless and security.

If it's a dlink, it's 192.168.0.1 User name admin, no password.

If it's a linksys, it's 192.168.1.1 login: admin password: admin.

If you have a different brand, let me know.
