Router Settings

Hi guys,

I've got a Linksys WRT54G, and when i try to log in to the router settings by going to 192.168.1.1, it just asks me for the username and password then gives me a blank page. Refreshing does nothing. Does anyone know why it does this?

Once i reboot the router, everythings fine for a bit.

do you have javascript turned on?
did you just enter "admin" without quotes in the password and leave the UN blank?

Yes, javascript is on.

The username is just admin, and the password i have changed already. Whenever i reboot the router i'm able to log in just fine, it's just after a few days it goes back to the blank screen again.

Any other suggestions?

do you p2p a lot? if so rebooting the linksys router is necessary to clear out the connected ip's that can remain in memory for a week. this is when you notice the internet connection working but not working at the router end due to congestion. at this piont i just pull the plug and plug it back in

Oh yeah true, thanks for that... How annoying though to constantly have to reboot the router ugh.

Your telling me! And im sharing my connection with another pc. Man does my router get junked up. It got so bad that my router literally froze and I lost my internet connection!!

Have you tried pressing the button inside the hole at the back of your router with a pen or pin, I think that might reset your router login settings back to default. (username:admin password:admin) If not there should be another way around it.

check which version you have (v1-4 maybe 5). earlier versions use linux and there are hacked 3rd party software that will take care of this problem. just google it. checking out their forums linksys knows about this but never released a decent firmware to fix it. their mods even recommend 3rd party firmwares. other than that just yank and re-plug whenever it's stuck

I've actually got version 7 .

Could you recommend me a 3rd party firmware and a url as i'm not sure which ones to trust and which ones to not...
