I had a computer connected throgh an ethernet cable to my router. It is a linksys WCG200-CG comcast modem-and-router-in-one. However, that computer had a virus and wasn't working well. I reformated the hardrive. So i did that and I moved the computer. Its not connected wired anymore. I tried using a wireless adaptor and I am now trying to connct to the router on that computer in a different room. However, although all the other computers in my house can access the router perfectly well, the computer I'm talkin about cannot. Whenever it tries to access the router the router shuts down its wireless. The wireless signal dissapers from all the compuer's range. Only turning that computer off and restarting all the computers trying to access the router works. Is this some type of security feature? I never heard of anything like that, especially when it turns off the signal of all the wireless devices in the house, even the ones that normally are enabled. Can anyone help me with this problem?
(And it doesnt matter how many devices are trying to access the the router. When only that computer is trying to access it, it still shuts off. The router has had a few problems from the getgo, like not being able to recognise most of the devices that are connected. i just assumed that was a firmware problem and didn't look into it really.)
p.s. My setup = I have 128-bit WEP enabled on the router. 3 computers hooked up wirelessly, all with static ip adresses (including the one I'm talkin about) and an xbox 360 hooked up to a bridge on one of the computers, which also has its own static ip. One of my friends often comes over with his laptop and connects to the router and I have another laptop in the house that connects sometimes but is rarely ever used.
