Router vs. Firewall

If I'm behind a router, is a software firewall really needed? I unerstand the controll of keeping programs from accessing the net, but as far as keeping people from hacking?

Many people do not adequately adjust the router's firewall settings to fit their needs. With all of the free or cheap firewall software out there... I would recommend starting with software. Besides, if someone REALLY wanted to get into your machine, an off the counter router or software wont stop them.

Yes you should be fine but I run windows firewall along with the router firewall.
