Rs 232 Cable

Will this cable work in a parallel port or only in the 9 pin serial port? It has 25 pin connetion just like the parallel port.
Its being used for a plotter and there is an adaptor on the end of the cable which brings it down to 9 pins. I was wondering were it has 25 pins without the adaptor if it would work in the parallel port?

No, it is serial only. RS232 is a serial cable. The 9 pin is due to price.

There are 2 serial connectors - 9 and 25 pin D-Shell, with 9 pin used more because of the cheap cost of making it. The adapted is only there so you can use either, not so it can be used in parallel, they are two completely different interfaces
