Run a power supply without using a motherboard

Okay, this may sound crazy, but does anyone have an idea how to do it.

Long story short, I saw an article online about building a lamp out of CD's, so I thought that I would give it a try. So I bought a cool cathode to light the thing, but it requires to be run off a computer power supply. But I want to be able to use it anywhere there is an outlet in my house. So my thought would be to find a way to run the powere supply without the rest of the computer.

So, anyone, is it possible??
 
connect the green wire and a black wire on the motherboard connector with a paperclip, it says in that link dragon posted but just incase you're too lazy to read :P
