Running a duel OS "windows & linux"

I was just wondering what you guys have to say about this... i'm about to build my computer and i was wondering what will be good if i do this and what are some problems i will run into?

As to what will be good: You have two operating systems to choose from! Choice is power :D

I never really have any problems when installing Linux alongside Windows. Most distros these days will automatically recognize your Windows partition and configure it for dual boot. So you probably won't have any problems at all, at least in the sense of conflicting OS's.

Damm I wish the one time I tryed it, it did that. I told lynux to run on a different harddrive then windows. Intead it decided to partition both my harddrives and completly wiping out my windows causing me to loose all my data.
 
Realistically the only major problem you can come across is accidentally fragging a partition during the installation but if you're careful that shouldnt be a problem :)
 
So how exactly should i go about setting up my new home built computer for two OS... should i install windows then linux? I'm just not sure what to do.

Doesnt really matter which order you install the two, lots of people prefer Windows first, Linux second though. :) How you size the partitions depends on what you're going to be using it for :)
 
Should i run them on different hard drives or will they be ok on the same one? Will this cause problems if i run them on the same one?

p.s. i'm a complete newb with computers but i'm technically inclined so i think i will be ok building this computer. i do have help from a couple of good sources. Will i be ok trying to set this up and have them run with little experience building computers and almost no experience with linux?
 
I heard that you can get a third OS that boots before Windows and Linux and allows you to got to either Windows or Linux. I can't remember what its called though, I'll have check up on that. I making a computer and I wanna install Windows and Linux in seperate HDs both 300GBs :D
