Running a Laptop w/o a battery...

hey, i was wondering, do the batteries in laptops generatem much heat? and would i be able to run a laptop on the mains power without the battery connected to the laptop??

batteries can get warm when you are using them or charging them but not much most of the time. yes you would be able to run the laptop without the battery.

do they have heatsinks? no... then obviously the other parts in the computer would be much hotter, so worry about the heat from those instead.
 
The CPU and Hard drive get much hotter, the battery may get a tad warm, but nothing to worry about.

And yes you can use a laptop without the battery, just dont unplug it when its on.

Depend on what laptop you use. If you use IBM, then they got this software to allow you to slow down the CPU speed and also darken the screen a bit to save battery power and slower the fan speed. All new laptops can run on the mains without the battery connected to the laptops. If you find 1 new laptop which cannot run on the mains without the battery, feel free to blast me here. I will tear and burn all my Certificates. *No Offence*
