Running a website

Hey there. I'm very good with computers, but useless with networking/ websites.

Here's my scenario;
I need to have a website online with the lowest cost possible. I have created a website on Adobe Dreamweaver. I have a spare computer and someone I know told me I could use this as a web server and host the website myself? Apparently as long as that computer is on people could access my website. I would like to use Linux on that machine to minimize costs.

I believe I'll need to purchase a domain name? Where could I purchase this?

Basically.. with what I have, how do I get my website online and what will I need? I need to know how to get my website online as I'm absolutely clueless.

Also, which version of Linux would be best for a web server machine?

Your help is much appreciated! I really know nothing on this topic! :D

If you're paying the electric bill this is useless. You can get a simple website for like 30 dollars a year. Running a machine 24/7 would cost much more.
