In the future I am looking at building my first desktop, what I was wondering is when you install two graphic cards on a mother board that support's it, is it all you have two do is install the drivers and they will both work or do you have to do some stuff to get them both to work together?

That is essentially it, yea, but there are a couple of settings.

There are similar settings for ATi, but I'll explain using nvidia/SLI

Once you have the cards in, the SLI bridge in, all the power connectors in and have installed your drivers, go to the nvidia control panel and find SLI (can't remember the exact name for it, it is self explanitory though). You have 2 options, one to run the cards independantly, seperately to each other, or to run them together in SLI and get more power. Pick which you want and that is it. By default, they are seperate if I remember correctly.

With ATi, go to CCC to do it
