I have an XFX 7900 gs video card, it has an s-video out connection on it, so I downloaded an episode of 24 from AOL onliine and cannot burn it to a dVD due to drm, so can I hook a s-video cable from my card to my tv and watch it on my tv? will I have a cursor and desktop on my tv as well?

I'm not sure on that one... I know you can run it normally as if it's a desktop yes.
But I'm using the ATI Catalyst thinger.

But uhm, when I use windows media player, the screen is black.
I have no idea why.

ok

well I just went to Ebay and bought a 35' s-video cable and I already had 30' rca's and a 3.5mm to rca adapter for the audio. So all I do is hook the cables to my pc and then to my tv and the stuff I download I can watch on my tv. I have to be watching it on the pc at the same time though right?

You can watch it on TV. And you wont see the cursor...
I'm using SubEdit player. It supports 2 monitors.

im pretty sure that you would see the cursor. it would act as a normal monitor. so yes you could watch your movie on your tv if you can launch the movie on your computer fine. or tv show...whatever.

No you won't. You just need to do the settings right.
Someone even can work on the monitor and you can watch a film on tv and it'll be fine.

?

what do you mean by "do the settings right?" i hooked up the audio to my pc, though i hooked it up as rear speakers. i have a 2.1 computer speakers set, 2 speakers and a bass box, when i plugged the tv audio cable in it put my config into 4 speaker mode with the tv being the 2 rear speakers, although i have them going into a 4 splitter which is hooked to my surround sound tv set up so i just really need the feed and can process it through my surr. sound right? i am waiting on my 33 ft s-video cable, prob. mon or tues. i'll let you know

save time and money

as far as DRM protection goes, you can remove it quite legally using "Tunebite" software which technically doesn't so much remove it as recopy the file without the DRM in place.
the software isn't free but is easily bypassed with the help of crack sites which i do not use  honest  http://www.tunebite.de/en/tunebite/index.html?affiliate=95c5f1f46c3009e880dd8113e6ad6561 it works a treat for all my files. :)

You need to set the screen options that they display separately (two different programs on each one). You've got split option, independent (that's what you need) and something else. I think I remember this correctly. I can't check it now because on my comp where I use it mobo is fried... But I think it's something like that. You need to check it.
In SubEdit you need to press F12 to set the monitor. You operate it on small monitor and when you start full screen mode it switches automatically to tv.
I've got scart > s-video, jack cable.
Although when I have DVD plug in to TV computer don't see the TV (don't know why) so before I start up the computer I need to unplug the DVD. After comp boot up I can plug DVD back in.
Hope this helps...
