ok, i know this question has been beaten to death, but all the threads i looked in have not answered any of my questions. i've looked plenty of places but can't find an answer.

ok so i'm trying to connect my laptop to view onto my tv. dual moniter or not, doesn't matter too much(preferbly dual of course). So on my tv, i don't have a S-video out so i wound up buying an s-video converter and attached to the yellow out rca cable. i used the regular vcr rca cable. i know i plug both sides in, but then what? i know on other laptop/computers, you click on the desktop>properties>settings>advanced>display and choose the tv and my moniter. or i could just go to display on my control panel and find out, right? but when i go to display, there's no tab or way to choose the tv as my moniter.

I've also tried to right click desktop>graphic options>output to>every option there was(extended desktop, moniter, etc).

i even bought the headset jack to tv to listen to the audio on the tv. i hope i can get this problem resovled. i've had friends try and figure it out and they can't help either.

if it helps any, my laptop is a dell inspiron 700m. i'd greatly appreciate it. i'd like to watch my movies on my tv because if you know laptops, my screen is really small. thanks.

edit: also, do i need a video card to do this? i don't know if mine does. and what type?

Is there a shortcut on your keyboard. Like a function key with a combination to switch over to external. Like and Fn + F8 or something like that?

do the drivers currently installed support multiple monitors? if you go to display properties and go to the settings tab it should say under display

i think so. there's a drop down w/ 2 moniter options.

1. plug and play moniter
2. default moniter

i tried clicking on both, nothing happens.

there's also a box that shows two boxes numbered 1 and 2. and on top of it, it says "drag the moniter icons to match the physical arrangement of your moniters"
