Safari

I am using safari browser on a Windows Vista computer. The computer is a HP Pavilion. I installed Safari and over night the safari desktop icon disappears. So I could not figure how how to start Safari as there is no shortcut for it anywhere. Last time I installed it I made two extra short cuts for it and placed them in folders. I even drug it down to the bottom bar on the desktop. However, again they are all missing. Has anyone else had this trouble? Also Safari is still on my computer because its under Program Files but I could not find anything in the files to make it run. Usually theres an executable file but I couldn't find it. Any clues? Thanks

Welcome to CF! Are you running the 3.1 release of Safari? If so go to Start>Programs and try clicking on the icon there. You can also right click on that to create a new shortcut for the desktop.

I am running 3.1.2 and there was no mention of safari anywhere not even under start button.

However, I did find a solution for it. I kept remembering Quicktime wanting to update. So I thought maybe if I update it that will help. So I went to start and there was an entry for UPDATE APPLE SOFTWARE when I clicked on it there was Safari listed along with Quicktime needing to be updated. So I updated and that has fixed it so far. Lets see if they are still there tomorrow! And by the way what kind of company downloads old software to someone's computer that has to be updated just hours after that person has installed their software!? lol Oh I guess Apple does.

Anyway just want to post this in case someone else runs into the same problem.

Go

Start > Control Panel > Add / remove Programs > See if Safari is in there..... if not you could have a virus, i know my friend had this happen to him and programs would just disappear over night, and it was a virus.
