Safe mode desktop problems.

When coming out of windows 2000/XP safe mode all of my desktop icons get rearranged and I think it even goes back to a grid system, is there a setting I can change to prevent this from happening ?

Probably because the resolution of your screen changes?
Do the icons go back to columns aligned on the left of just weirdly placed?
If it's is the first one (icons go back to columns aligned on the left), I get the same thing when my laptop goes to hibernation, like if windows forgets where they were ? If it's the second one (just weirdly placed), you can't do much about it.
Does that help?

Yours sounds even worse than mine haha ! after safe mode all my links went back to a fairly large grid and since I have so many links the desktop is completely full, with another pile of about 30 links all piled up in the upper left corner of the desktop, after a few hours rearranging things I printed up a screen shot so at least I know what I have and where it goes. I read in another site about a program you download that takes a "snapshot" of your desktop and I assume returns it back to the way it was.
