Can anyone tell me the usual maximum temperatures that a pc can go on without restarting. I mean everything CPU, vid card etc . I know it varies but i mean for a pretty high spec modern computer. some people have told me they are stable at upto 80c!!! on cpu. i think my pc is restartin at only around 50-55c.

I wouldnt like to have a cpu at 80*c, or anything above 60 for that matter. Have you looked in your bios for a shutdown temp?

Heya

It is important for us to know what card in particular you are referring to. The allowed temperatures differ from one processor to another. There is no rule of thumb that works for all processors and videocards.

ya i think someone here told me that AMDs usually run cooler while the pentiums go a bit hotter (which is alright)...correct me if im wrong

Ya the new athlons run about 40 under load with decent cooling while the presotts run about 50 under load with the same cooling.

Mind you, the Prescotts can run pretty cool with the right cooling. Ive never been above 35*c full load (Stock) with a Thermaltake Big Typhoon. Mind you, an Athlon would prob be about 30*c

i read somewhere in this forum that the early prescotts had that heating problem but now its been fixed.
