my CPU is an AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Venice. it runs about 38 - 41 C, and up to 47 C when gaming. is that safe? how far can i go without damage. this is with stock fan and without OC.

max written temp of the amd 3000+ venice is 65C. Your temps are a little high but not concerning at this stage

Yea, 47 degrees is concernable. I would look to get a better heatsink. KNowing your Cpu temps are good all the time is a very satisifing feeling. Also they say for evey 10 degrees hotter your cpu runs will reduce its life by half.

Amd 64 3000

I've got the Amd 64 3000+ and it idles at about 30 and when i have been ripping it up on battlefield 2 i get to about 52 at the absolute max

You can get a new HSF if you want to run cooler, but maxing out in the 40C's range isn't bad at all. I'd be concerned with 50C or above if 65C is a definite danger zone.

Simnply lowering your room temp, adding maybe 1-2 fans in your case can really improve overall system temps in alot of circumstances.
