Salvaging parts

I have a old dell and i am building a new pc. I would like to salvage the non crap parts like the floppy and perhaps soundcard. To do this would i need to get drivers from somewhere to operate them?

I am getting an Abit Fatal1ty AA8XE and this has onboard 7.1 sound. Should i use the old soundcard and will the new motherboards onboard sound be better because it is newer and a quality mainboard and the card in the dell is old. (A Creative SB Live!) Which would be best?

The main priority is the floppydrive

Many thanks Nick B

I just purchased a dell, and it did not even come with a floppy drive. I guess they are going out of style. Anyway they are pretty cheap lik 3-4$ for a new one. How much are you saving?

Systems don't usually come with them anymore since you can get a USB flash drive for really cheap. A local computer store down the street from me sells a 128mb drive for under $10. Considering you can only fit a few mb on a floppy (not sure exact amount) this is much better.
