Samsung 172x.

I recently bought a Samsung 172x monitor. I read reviews that it had little to no ghosting. Being my first LCD, I notice ghosting. Nothing untolerable, but it's there. Of course I am using a DVI connection, the analog just isn't what the DVI is. The monitor is running at 70mhz. My ATI settings claim it's the highest it will perform at. I thought it was at 75mhz? Would be able to tell a difference in 70 and 75?

Anyway, if any of you have this monitor or know someone who does, post it on here and let me know what you think. I think it's a great monitor, but i'm wondering if this small ghosting that it presents is that much better from the other panels out there.

- I hope you mean 75Hz and not 75Mhz.
- On a CRT you can probably notice the difference (as flicker)
- On a LCD you might notice the difference (but not as flicker)
As for ghosting, what's the response time of the screen?

oh dude, totally my bad. i did in fact mean 75hz. I'm not sure what the heck I was thinking.

The response time is 12ms on the screen though this is argued. It's not so bad unless you TRY to make it ghost. This may be my problem.

Don't get caught up in cliches like the plauge, be more or less specific, and an understandment is a billion times worse than an exaggeration.

I think maybe my 75mhz typo is probably just a force of habit. Yeah, that's got to be it. :P

There are very mixed reviews about my monitor...I only saw good things before i bought it...kinda wierd...they are all over the internet if you want to look them up.

Doubtfully. I think it's maybe because I have used CRTs all my life and I am used to NO ghosting at all. This slight ghost may be more noticeable to someone who is used to using CRTs. Like I said it has mixed reviews. Some say it doesn't ghost at all or little and some say it's a gaming disaster because it does ghost.(Tom's Hardware)
To me it's far from a disaster, my mothers 19" viewsonic is a disaster at a response time or 30ms, but yeah, i'm still wondering about this. Keep in mind this ghosting doesn't effect game play unless you are looking for it. when the game gets going you really don't even notice it.
