Samsung 950 Pro NVMe SSD

I see the 950 Pro 256GB variant has launched and I'm contemplating grabbing one, but Im wondering if anyone knows if can you use an M.2 chip, such as this, as the boot drive?

I vaguely recall hearing M.2 aren't for boot drive, and that would be my intent.

I'd sure as hell use it as an OS drive..

Your system is new enough to boot via M.2, so no problem.

Sweet man, thanks.. I think I'm gonna grab one.. but now I'm tempted to grab the 512GB variant..I think it is launched in a few days..might be out already though!?

You'd want to use this as a boot drive, as long as you have a PCI-E M.2 slot it should work. You may need an updated BIOS if you are running an older board to enable boot support, but the newer boards should be fine.

Hey Geoff,.. ya I got a Asus Hero VII board and we also have an MSI Z97 Gaming 3 board, both of which have M.2 2280 slot.
