I love my 2.5K display, I can't imagine though what the requirements to run a new game on high settings on a 4K display would be though.

Awesome that you can now get a 4K display for less than a grand. Just wait maybe a few years and you'll be able to get something way better for far less. ;)

wouldn't frame rate during gameplay be locked in at 30fps due to a limitation with HDMI and that resolution? im far happy with my 1440p (2.5k).

so these new 4k TV's have the ability to have me plug in 2 x hdmi ports and double the bandwidth to what. double the framerate, and/or the res.?
think it better to wait till hdmi 2.0 comes out and it solves both these problems?

I didn't even know that HDMI had a limit with frames and resolution.

Yeah that price is still unaffordable for the vast majority of people. I did see a 4K TV in a store not that long ago and thought it looked amazing. I still think it will be several years before 4K is common place in gaming. Even if you could afford the monitor, being able to buy hardware that keeps up with it is a whole different story. It would be at least 2 grand (I guestimate) to be able to play games very well on a 4K resolution.

HDMI is being phased out for high end displays anyways. Graphics cards and higher end LCD's all use DisplayPort for the primary connection.
