Samsung DVD driver

I bought an OEM samsung dvd rw and put it in my homebuild. It didn't come with an install disk. I tried to download driver from samsung web but doesn't recognize my player. The player works fine. Should I download the driver? What advantage if any is there? Does the driver have the lightscribe program on it?

There is no driver for a DVD drive and OEM hardware never includes software. There is firmware which is what your probley seeing. And no the driver doesn't have lightscribe in it. Lightscribe comes either in your burning software or a seprate download from HP.
