Samsung Netbook - Hard Drive Light is stuck at red? Won't boot

Hi,

Can someone tell me what is wrong with my laptop? I turned it on this morning and it gets as far as the boot to bios etc then just turns to a black screen and stays like that. I have tried restarting etc and nothing has changed.

On the keyboard part of the netbook, where the lights all are for caps lock wireless etc.

Power light - Blue (ON)
Wireless light - Blue (ON)
Hard Drive light - Red - what does it mean when its stuck on red?
 
Right so I took the power cable out and the hard drive light just went off - plugged the power cable back in and bang the red light came back up.

Any ideas?
 
have you tried reinstalling windows, or even use a linux based boot cd, that should tell you if its just corrupt system, or something bigger like the hard drive itself.
 
My guess would be a bad hard drive. Try taking the drive out and see if it finishes the post and gives you the "operating system not found" or something similar message
