Hey all! I'm looking to buy a new computer and I have decided on everything except the video card. When I asked the guy at the store that I am going to buy it, he recommended the Saphire 9550se. Unfortunatly, I can find next to no customer feed back on the card and I dont feel right buying a card with out somebodies opinions on it.

Do any of you guys know anything about this card or another card in its general price range that would do basically the same job?

Thanx!

Well, i'm going to second guess the "guy at the store" and ask you what kind of gaming you are going to be doing? Is it pretty intense/newer games, or not as graphically intense games. Also, is this card only for gaming or do you do other demanding things on your computer like CAD or something?

The 9550SE isn't a bad card, but it's not a top of the line performer either. You will be able to play the newest games on Med settings or so, but not full blown to the max.

I would actually suggest a 9600PRO, they should only be ~$20 more or maybe less. The 9600PRO is a faster card, and should run the newer games better. Anyone think different?

If you're not gaming, nad you're jsut looking fora budget card that will play games like NFSU or AVP2, a 64MB 9200 is plenty fine. Don't pay for hardware you don't need, if that's indeed the case.

i woudl like to be able to play things like Call of Duty 2, Metal of Honor (1st person basically) maybe even halflife 2 (i know i couldnt do it on max settings, but ohh well). But mostly COD and MoH type games. Basically, the only thing that I need is the dual monitor support (I am a programmer and need to see all of my code, well, more then one monitor worth atleast...) Hope this helps you help me better :)

If you are fine with medium settings on your newer games, then i think a 9600PRO would be great, it should play relatively older games on high settings i think. Can you spend $70 on a 9600PRO? they have them at www.newegg.com

if hes giving you a great deal on the 9550SE (maybe $40) and you aren't concerned too much about the gaming experience, then you can save money and go that route. it will still play games and give u dual monitors, jsut now "as good" as the 9600PRO.

They should both be able to use the dual monitor feature, ATi has that as a pretty much built-in feature. My 9200 even has it lol. if only i had 2 LCD's.

Just make sure the guy at thye store doesnt make you pay $130 like I did... He even was stupid enough to tell me its better than the 9800 pro. Anyway its a decent card, if you have a good processor (which I didnt) then it can run HL:2 on mediumish and COD on highish.

when your buying a video card dont buy SE version, buy a PRO or XT cuz that 9550SE has only 64-bit while 9550 has 128-bit, for about $80 you can buy saphire radeon 9600XT and that's a great card :)

my opinion is go 9800pro or 6600gt definitely not 9550se! se stands for shitty edition if you didnt know. or special edition (it went to special school)
