Ok, my motherboard has an ATI Radeon X200 64mb integrated chipset. I have been told that a Nvidia won't work and that I must stay with ATI. I have also been told that it doesn't matter. So, I'm not sure on that one.
What card do you guys consider to be better? Newegg has the Sapphire for $134.88 and the EVGA 8600Gs for $115.48 or something like that. I was worried about the fact that the Sapphire cant use directx 10, but then I found that directx 10 is only for Vista, which this pc will not be running in the future. I don't want to go beyond 130-140. PC specs- AMD Athlon 64X2 3800+ (2.0ghz), 1 gig ram (might upgrade to 2), 250g hd. I am also going to purchase a descent power supply for it.
I am contemplating on building my own computer, with a little better specs than this one, as I'd rather modify my own junk rather than the families, just in case I screw up
. Unfortunately, I really don't have any place to put another pc. The top games that I will probably play are Bioshock, GTA IV (if it comes out for pc), and Mafia II. According to a Newegg review, the X1950Gt 512 plays Bioshock on high settings. I think one used the word "flawlessly"
. Thanks.
