Sata 1 and Sata 2 compliant?

I have a Toshiba A15 with a hard drive that just took a shit on me.
I took the hard drive out. It is a Sata1 interface. I know Toshibas website says something about ATA-7, but this is definitely a Sata drive. Now the question; being that most 2.5in" drives are now SATA2, will a SATA2 drive give me any problems?

Thanks.

P.S. Could anyone recommend a drive from 160GB to 250GB?

Pretty sure ATA-7 is SATA-150. You should be fine with most any 2.5" SATA-150 or SATA-300 drive.

Eh, as for drives, I normally stick with Western Digital drives for my desktops. I've not done much shopping for replacement lappy drives. I'd just search around Newegg and find what drives have the highest ratings and such.

thanks.

Well, I certainly won't be getting another toshiba drive...

another thing. I take my laptop to college. I ride a motorcycle. I live in northeastern MI. It gets cold. And I have to drive over a couple of bumpy dirt roads. Will the sudden cold (like 40-45 degrees) and the vibration from the dirt roads shorten the life of my hard drive? I will put it in a backpack with padding just for the laptop.
