I asked this in the motherboard forum and only got one possible response, and I thought I might do better here.
I will be building a new computer shortly. I expect to use a SATA HDD, and I want to know if I will be able to use Win98 in DOS mode on it. My wife has several old programs that she still likes to use that run best in DOS. (yes, I know about compatibility modes, and they just don't cut it with these 2 programs.) Currently I am using PATA drives. I have a dual boot system with WinXP and Win 98 that doesn't boot to the GUI, just to the C prompt.
So, if I use SATA drives and set the computer up the same way, will she be able to use the DOS programs as she has been doing all this time? I guess the question comes down to does the OS control SATA drives or does the MB?
Thanks for any help.
