Well i think it works as SATA is the primary boot and the IDE is a slave. I have done that. My hard drive is a SATA and my DVD burner is a IDE.

Whichever route you want to go is just fine. You can use an IDE OR SATA HDD. I'd go with SATA myself.

Yeah - SATA is faster a easier

Yeah i suppose it depends on what he wants to do.... i would go for SATA

What do you mean? I want to play games with my PC. Well if its faster I'll use it. I have to boot the CD drive first so I can install the OS right?

SATA HDD since its faster. Is there such a thing as a CD/DVD that I can plug into the SATA? lol

No.

But I read somewhere that I can't boot SATA drives first, so would I need at least 1 thing on the IDE drive to install an OS?

No i have my OS on my sata drive - you just need to change the boot settings in the bios

uumm... in the bios you can change what you want to boot first. Such as i have my sata drive first and then my IDE drive.

Do you know how to get into the bios???
I'm a newbie, sorry. When you start press delete right?

So... I boot the HDD, then instal the OS how...? (Is completely new at this, first attempt at puting together a computer)

Instructions

Yes press delete when is starts up.

To install the OS do this:-
1.- Make the CD / DVD Drive the primary boot device
2.- Put the OS disc in the drive and reboot the computer.
3.- When the computer boots off the OS disc follow the instructions.
4.- Once the OS is been installed go back into the bios and change the boot settings to the hard drive being the primary boot device and then have the CD / DVD has the secondary boot device.
5.- Completed and now hsave fun :)

Hopefully this helps you and you can install your OS and get your computer fully working.
