SATA connecter broke off, any way to fix?

The data connector broke off on my SATA drive. The pins are all still intact, but there is no way to "lock" a SATA cord in place. I'd like to try and salvage the drive if possible. Are these pieces sold anywhere? I could try and glue it in place.

Otherwise, any ideas?

Any help appreciated.

The only thing you can try doing is hold the cable in place and see if you can access the drive and then copy all the important data to a new drive. I had the same thing happen to my daughters computers and it worked for the longest time until I could get a new drive.

Thanks John, that's exactly what I tried yesterday. The cable was held together between the table and the drive, and i was able to get my files. I would just hate to trash a 320GB drive just because a small non-mechanical part fell off. Unfortunately, this looks like it's my best option.

heh...maybe you can glue it forever =P Don't take my word on it but worth a shot to find some glue that would keep the connection and keep it together.

A permanent glue solution, hmm haha that might be a good idea. I think I'll give that a try after I've backed everything up.

Wow this is a coincedence!

I've also done the same, with a 320GB WD Caviar.

I tried to superglue it back on but it didnt hold, I stuck the little bit of plastic that fell off inside the sata connector & then carefully plugged that into the drive, worked for a very long time :)

I've since sold the computer, but not the drive obviously, I've still got that hanging around somewhere :)
