Hello,

First off, sorry if this is in the wrong place or a repeat i'm new to this. I just bought an old Pentium 4 Desktop tower to learn how to set up a web server. I also bought a Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drives - OEM from newegg. I think i need to put in a SATA controller? i'm not really sure what i'm looking for however. Any help would be appreciated for what i would need to install the drive in the P4.

Thanks for the help,
Greg

If you have an older computer then you won't have a pci express port. Is this an OEM branded machine such as dell, hp, compaq, gateway? Or is this a custom build computer. If you can give me the brand and model of computer or what motherboard if you have a custom build, I can tell you what ports you have.

Uhh Model: HPC-300-101

Asus P4B Rev 1.03 on the board?

EDIT: or on the side sticker it says:
series: Vault Pentium 4 1500

Ok so i figured they are just PCI not PCIe. So can anyone suggest which controller i should get? Also, would i need anything else for installing? I dont know how i would set this up once i have everything either.

Thank you,
Greg
