The problem i am having is that i had my operating system (XP) on a 160gb HITACHI hard drive.

i wanted to install a copy of LINUX suse 10.

so i disconnected the hard drive via SATA cable not power supply. now after the linux os had been installed i plugged the SATA cable back in.

NOW IT DOESN'T POWER UP!!!!!:confused::confused:

i need this hard drive working i have alot of music and pictures on it. how can i get this to work.

Have you tried to disconnect the power connector and plug it back in to make sure its connected good or made sure the sata connector is plugged into the board and drive good?

urm yea, course. see i noticed with the sata connection the clip that keeps it in place is broken, not the socket just the clip. this wouldn't be the problem would it.

Any way of getting the data off of it.

If you have another Sata cable you could give it a try, but I dont think a broken clip would matter unless its not holding it all the way in.

see i thought. (i do it rarly)

the orange type connector on the back of the hard drive, connecting the cylinders to the circuit board. if i was to disconnect it and connect it to another circuit board then maybe it will work.

I have tried another cable even a whole new power supply and mother sata socket but the thing does not power.

what do you think about changing the circuit board.
