Okay so i added a Sata2 drive to my sisters rig which runs xp pro .

The os itself is installed on an IDE drive which i want to leave on,i just want to use the sata drive as storage.

and has this mobo

Asus A7vax-LA

However the drive is not showing in bios,or in windows.

Ive been searching for ages and can only see that you either have to install sata drivers (which i cant find for such an old mobo) OR have to move a jumper on the motherboard which i dont know where either

Whats up?

On most motherboards you can disable or enable the sata ports. Check to make sure they are enabled. Or put the drive in another computer to make sure its not the drive thats dead. Is the drive spinning up when you turn the computer on?

Yup theres no options for enable or disable sata in the bios.

The mobo is from a Hp.

The drive is working.

It is indeed very old,Btw i tried plugging a Sata CDRW drive into the Sata port too and thats also not detected at all

So your probably right.
