Assembled a fresh build today. In the post screen the sata hard drive is not recognized - it says "None"

When I go ahead and install winxp it says "no hard drive found"....

Can't find any support for this drive...

It doesn't make any noises.. no led's nothing .. seems to be DOA.

I'm really confused. I have set the computer up with a 4gb hard drive that is the old style IDE large connector.... It works excellent... But its already full :)

Am I missing something? I really don't see much in bios about enableing SATA..

Rob..

enable the sata0 port in bios

When the windows xp is loading it will say "press f6 to load sata/raid driver" press f6 and load the sata drivers.

If it is a new hd, you will then need to partition and format the drive.

Good luck.

Went into SATA device Config in BIOS made sure they where all enabled. Ran windows install. Then it asked me to install a driver from the disk

The disk came up with like 4 things Sata - raid, pata - raid or something..

Chose a couple.. no go..... said there was no hard drive attatched...

Here is the MOBO:

Been searching and searching.. ya know it would be nice if the HD came with some instructions at least!
